Blog # 3:  January 22, 2016

We continue now 6 weeks into our opening of the MYSTIC LUXURY CINEMAS and we are thrilled at the response by you the patron guest. We seek to improve our operation adding in new items as we go. Hot foods are available now and we are looking to expand the menu over the next few weeks.

On the alternative content front we feature out first satellite transmission of the BOSHOI BALLET this Sunday the 24th live form Moscow at 12:45 PM. THE TAMING OF THE SHREW will be the first of many. In addition on January 28 at 1:30PM we will transmit via satellite Les Liaisons de Dangereuse our first transmission of the NL Live from London. Tickets for both events are on sale.

On the film front we shall continue to add in the Academy Award nominees for your viewing. Big Short, Revenant, Danish Girl, Room, and Brooklyn are all playing the theatre.

Coming this February 5 we shall feature LADY IN THE VAN, based on true events. The magnificent Maggie Smith (“Downton Abbey,” The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel, the Harry Potter series) shines in the hilarious and touching story of Miss Shepherd, a homeless woman of uncertain origins who “temporarily” parks her van in the driveway of playwright Alan Bennett (Alex Jennings) in North London—and ends up staying for 15 years. Arrayed in a mismatched panoply of rags, Miss Shepherd is hygienically challenged, violently allergic to classical music, maddeningly stubborn and guided by messages direct from the Virgin Mary. What begins as a begrudged favor by Bennett grows into a relationship that will change both their lives. This “mostly true” story, based on the memoir and play by Bennett (The History Boys, The Madness of King George, Prick Up Your Ears), was filmed on the actual street and in the house where it happened; it is directed by Nicholas Hytner, working with Bennett for the third time. With a supporting cast of Jim Broadbent, James Corden, Frances de la Tour, Roger Allam and Dominic Cooper. Tickets will go on sale for LADY IN THE  VAN on January 29th.

We are working on some additional programs such as a Discount Ticket Program for companies in the area, a birthday party program and a Sunday Jazz Series coming in the near future.

We are very appreciative of the support, want to hear from you whether good or bad. It is you the patron guest that can help us get better. See you at the Movies.
